"My dream from the very first was to be a cowboy, and I stuck to that goal and that dream my whole life."

CONTRACT COWBOY/DOG TRAINER
A note from Gary
I have been raising, training and selling McNab cattle dogs and puppies since 1973. For over 40 years I have been training all breeds of dogs for obedience, however I specialize in dogs working livestock. I contract cowboy as part of my occupation. I will bid a job and travel with my dogs and horses to wherever there is livestock that cannot be caught. I use my dogs and horses to work our own cattle as well as other rancher’s cattle or other livestock that need gathered. My dogs are tough, with plenty of bite when necessary, but are very controllable and easy to train. McNabs are primarily head dogs, going to the front to stop the livestock. With their stamina and tough feet, they can go all day and be ready to go again the next day. They also use their incredible nose for locating livestock. They are easy to train because of my unique breeding program, it is bred into them, just let them work. I guarantee all my McNabs to work livestock and be healthy. Not only do my dogs work livestock, but I have sold many of my dogs for other jobs. I breed the drive into my dogs so they can go any direction the owner wants. I have sold dogs for hunting, agility classes, disc dog classes, search and rescue, drug sniffing dogs, even a cadaver dog to locate human remains. These McNabs can do anything they are trained to do and achieve high success while doing it. I have several unrelated lines to choose from. Many of my dogs have pedigrees dating back several generations. I register my McNabs in The National Stock Dog Registry and have been since 1990. Besides the obvious reasons, I register them because I want to maintain records so I am not breeding related dogs. Other breeders of different breeds call it line breeding. My opinion is that causes health problems, such as hip dysplasia and others. I guarantee all my dogs to be healthy and disease free. All trained dogs, for sale will be up on all vaccinations and all my puppies when sold at 8 weeks, will have the 1st puppy vaccination and dewormed.

Gary Williams writes about his life as a working cowboy - The tribune
"....his wife and friends had been pushing Williams to write a book for years, it took a trip “down south” with a client to finally persuade him to put words to paper.
A week later comes this package in the mail with this voice recorder and a note (from the client) saying, ‘I want your first book,’ ” recalled Williams, who placed the device on his truck’s dashboard. He recorded stories during “windshield time,” later using a Lenovo ThinkPad to transform those anecdotes into a manuscript.
So far, he said, he’s been amazed by the positive reaction to “Lessons from the Range.”
